Shoulder bacon is from the premium shoulder cut of the pig with the rind removed. It’s a very versatile bacon best cooked in a medium-hot pan or under a hot grill. Hellers Shoulder Bacon is a high quality, well-priced product that’s great for brunch, in a BLT sandwich or roll, quiches, or in the classic NZ bacon and egg pie. Hellers Shoulder Bacon is cured and manuka smoked to give it that distinctive flavour and yet it’s great value and a real winner with the whole family.
Under the grill: place bacon on grill tray below heat for approx. 3-4 minutes each side.
In the frying pan: brown bacon for approx. 10 minutes at a medium heat turning frequently.
In the oven: heat oven to 200ºC. Bake bacon for 12-18 minutes, no turning necessary.
